Making Newsletters with MailChimp

Getting your name out there and giving people valuable information is one of the best ways to market your business. One of the many ways to do this is by sending out an email newsletter.

There are lots of newsletter services out there. Some free, some not, so it’s totally up to you and what you’re looking to do with your newsletter as to which service you choose to go with.

I’d recommend going with a free service like MailChimp to start out. If you don’t have a large number of subscribers, then why pay money for a newsletter when not that many people are receiving it? MailChimp offers their services along with free templates that can be customized to your liking and tons of helpful videos for free if you have under 1000 subscribers, and if you’re new like I am, it will take some time to build up to that number.

So what should you include in your newsletter?

Well, that’s totally up to you. One business may send out newsletters to update subscribers on new products, upcoming sales, or changes in their website. Another business may include helpful articles, coupons, and links to other important or related sites.

How often should you send it?

Again, up to you, but let me caution you here. If you don’t have a lot of useful content or new updates to share often, don’t push yourself to send out a newsletter weekly. There’s nothing worse than sending worthless junk to people’s inbox that does nothing but annoy them! Sending out a newsletter once a month is great. That gives you time to come up with something for readers or to get new products and sales pitches ready.

No matter what content you decide to put in your newsletter or how often you send it out, the main point is to DO IT, and if you’re new and trying to budget your money wisely, free services like MailChimp are definitely the way to go!

Do you already offer a newsletter to subscribers? If so, which service do you use, and what drew you to it?

hugs, Meagan
